Tablets, tablets everywhere

Alright, so with all the news on upcoming tablets, it may be hard to decide which one you want to buy.

I've created this so post so that you will know what's coming and what's under the lid. Bear with me, this could get crazy.

First up: the galaxy tab 2 is coming. This tablet has mostly the same specs as the other Galaxy Tab, except it runs on ICS right out of the box.

Next: Note tablet? I'm curious about this guy. That pen makes me want it more. This tablet is like a blown up version of the galaxy note. Complete with the fancy schmancy pen.

After that: Nexus Tab. This tablet is supposed to be a cheaper tablet that google is going to sell in an online store. This is the one I want to pick up. Supposedly, the price will be less than $300 and have some damn good specs for the price. It's 7 inches, though. So don't expect massive screen from it.

I'll update this with more facts as I find out more. :) check back though.

My Opinion on the Galaxy Nexus

The Galaxy Nexus it my fifth Android phone. I'm no stranger to the Android platform, and I know how it should work. Let me start by saying that the GNex is a gorgeous phone, and it is my prized electronic at the moment. The GNex has forced me to learn and further my skills.

First, I'm rooted and running a rom. This phone responds well to all kinds of roms. I've tried out three now, and my phone is still as solid and beautiful as ever.

What I Like:
+screenshots. Super fast and simple, and very responsive.
+the dev community. Everyone loves this phone, and so there are a lot of options rom wise.
+the size. This phone is an excellent size, and allows for beautiful movie watching and viewing.
+Android 4.0. This shit keeps getting better. The UI is lovely, and is made even better with custom roms.
+lack of search key. I might be the one person who doesn't miss the search key. The phone looks so much simpler without the search key. Of course, if this is a negative for you, you can always root and find a rom that allows you to add buttons.

+camera. This is one of the best phone cameras I've had. There's all kinds of features that you can include in your pictures.

What I Don't Like:
-on stock, I hated the lag of the keyboard. Rooting fixed that.

That's about it for my likes and dislikes. As you can tell, I love the phone. I'm so unbelievably happy with this phone, and given the option, I would try it again.

What I Think of Instagram

Recently, I decided that (sometime in the next few months) I will be deleting my facebook. Now, this isn't very rare around the Google/Android fan base because of Google+. So, after I had decided that I was going to delete Facebook, I got an email that said it was time to download the Instagram app.

People were going pretty crazy for Instagram. I just wanted to try it out. So, I downloaded the app and started clicking around. Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I was confused as hell. There wasn't really much appeal to me, since, for the past few months, I'd been making do with Lightbox and other similar apps. I clicked around and finally got around to uploading a photo. I noticed that there weren't as many features as some other apps that I had tried out. The social aspect of it also annoyed me a lot. I saw a lot of Android-hate going on from the iPhone users. Number one: I didn't like the app, so I deleted it. Number two: iPhone users do not OWN Instagram (FACEBOOK DOES).

Overall, I wasn't a very big fan of Instagram, and promptly deleted the app. Then, I learned that Facebook had bought Instagram and deleted my account. Instagram may work for some users, but it's just not right for me.

Custom ROMs

Ever since I rooted, I have been very bold in terms of ROMs. So far I've tried out Gummy, Liquid and AOKP, as well as a Franco Kernel. The first ROM that I tried out was Gummy. Gummy is a simple and very customize-able ROM. I liked how easy it was to start up and customize. I'm very glad that I chose it for my first ROM.

The next rom I used was liquid. I liked liquid more than Gummy. The only issue that I noticed was that the text box wouldn't allow me to input text at times. While it was a little annoying, it wasn't that big of a deal. Other than that small flaw, the rom was smooth and clean, and setup was simple.

Currently, I'm on AOKP. This rom seems to be flawless, and I haven't had any issues with it yet. Initial set up was a little bumpy(but not the roms fault).

If you're a beginner (like I was/am), Gummy and Liquid are excellent roms to try out until you find one that you're happy with. :)

Happy flashing!

Code Academy

Trying out code academy. It's really cool. I'm learning a lot so far. I'll update my progress as I move on up.

Welcome!

First of all, thank you so much for coming to look at my blog. I appreciate it. This blog is a work in progress.

Let me tell you a little about me:
I'm currently going to school for Computer Science. I hope to get my AA in the next two years, with a degree in Computer Science. I changed my major from Political Science to Computer Science. I enjoy technology. I've always liked technology. My first Android phone was an HTC Droid Eris. From there, I went to a Motorola Droid, then to a Samsung Fascinate, a Samsung Stratosphere, and now, I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

I recently rooted my Nexus (with the help of some awesome people), and am looking forward to working with my phone in the future.

Other things I enjoy include Game of Thrones, Modern Family, Desperate Housewives, and looking up technology videos on YouTube. I may be a little geeky compared to the average consumer these days, but it can only get worse. :)

This blog will mostly be about my interests for now. Once I find a steady ground (and maybe some viewers), I'll change it around.

Thanks for reading. :)
